Have you got a question about Gazebos? Well your in the right place! Below you’ll find the Garden Gazebo FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). If you’ve got a question that isn’t answered below let us know!

Q: What is a Gazebo?

A: A ‘traditional’ gazebo can be defined as a pavilion structure made out of either wood or metal and usually found in a park or garden. Traditional Gazebos have been around for 100s of years and are thought to be Asian in origin.

When we are talking about Gazebos on this site we are referring to ‘modern’ garden gazebos that are designed to be erected temporarily to provide protection from the sun wind or rain. This type of gazebo tends to be of steel or aluminium construction and covered in some sort of fabric. The exact materials used differed depending on the exact function of the gazebo.

Q: What are the main types of gazebos?

A: On this site we’ve categorised gazebos into three main categories;

  • ‘Standard’ Gazebos - these tend to be constructed of tubular steel or aluminium. The tubular frame comes in parts which have to be assembled to form the shell of the structure. This is then covered with the material to provide sun/rain/wind protection.
  • ‘Pop up’ Gazebos – While these look similar to traditional gazebos, they differ in that they come ready constructed in the box. To erect you simply open up the legs of the gazebo. This form of gazebo is much quicker to put up althouigh tends to be more expensive as it invloves a more complex production techniques.

Q: How do you put a gazebo up?

A: This depends on the type of Gazebo. Click here to see the erection of a typical pop up gazebo. We hope to put some guides up for tradtional gazebos on the site soon.

Q: Are Gazebos Waterproof?

A: Short answer – no. Most Gazebos are designed to provide shade from the sun rather than the rain. Some manufacturers do however produce waterproof models – make sure you check this feature is advertised before buying if waterproofing is required.

Q: Can I buy replacement Canopies for my Gazebo?

A: We often get asked whether replacement gazebo covers for existing frames to replace ones that have become worn or broken. Unfortunately the answer is usually no – gazebos can be slightly different sizes and shapes and so there is no ‘one fit all’ replacement. It is worth looking at our accessories page – when we find replacement covers this is where we list them. Do be careful to check the dimensions of your gazebo before ordering.
